Japan fullback Ayumu Goromaru's old side, Yamaha Jubilo, will play his new team, Toulon, in a friendly on July 30, the Top League club said Wednesday.

Goromaru, who hurt his right shoulder while playing for the Reds in Super Rugby last month, was originally scheduled to take the field with his new team, but will miss the game.

A farewell ceremony will follow the match at Shizuoka Stadium for the 30-year-old Goromaru, who had played for Yamaha since 2008. Yamaha, which terminated Goromaru's employment contract after his move to the French Top 14, has since hired him as an adviser.

"We'll grab the win. We'll execute a plan that will deliver a victory," Yamaha manager Katsuyuki Kiyomiya told a press conference about the match against the three-time European champions.

With Shizuoka Stadium one of 12 venues for the 2019 World Cup, the occasion will provide locals a glimpse of what they can expect three years from now.

"I hope we'll see some spectacular play from one of the world's leading teams," Shizuoka Gov. Heita Kawakatsu said.
