An inexperienced Japan side recorded another dominant win in the Asia Rugby Championship with a 38-3 victory over Hong Kong on Saturday.

Interim coach Ryuji Nakatake's young side crossed the whitewash six times following an 85-0 thrashing of South Korea on home soil a week earlier.

Shokei Kin scored the first try of the game in the opening minutes, and captain Keisuke Uchida followed suit a few minutes later after breaking the Hong Kong line in numbers and touching down in style.

The hosts, whose energetic effort forced Japan into numerous mistakes, got on the board with a Benjamin Rimine penalty that made it 12-3. But despite its effort, Hong Kong could not match Japan's ability to keep its shape and cope with the chaos on the pitch. The Japanese missed numerous tackles but had the pace to prevent major breakthroughs.

"We obviously made a large number of mistakes, so I am happy to get a win in difficult conditions," Uchida said. "Today's game raised many issues that I want us to deal with as we prepare for the next two games."

Kentaro Kodama and Ryoto Nakamura scored a try apiece to give Japan the bonus point win that has been its minimum result in Asian competition, with Kodama's being his sixth of the tournament.

Substitute Hiroki Yamamoto scored Japan's last two tries, the final one from an unstoppable scrum.

"(There was) big pressure today from Hong Kong. We made a lot of mistakes, but we stopped their attack, so it was a good game," Nakatake said.

Japan will take on South Korea in Incheon on May 21 and complete its tournament on May 28 against Hong Kong at Tokyo's Prince Chichibu Memorial Rugby Ground.
