The Sunwolves have lost wing Akihito Yamada and lock Shinya Makabe to injuries, Japan's first Super Rugby franchise said Sunday.

Yamada, who has five tries so far in the team's debut season, is expected to return to duty within two to three weeks. The team is yet to comment on the details of the pair's injuries. Both players were part of Japan's World Cup squad in England last year.

Wing John Stewart and lock Faatiga Lemalu have been called up to the team, currently in South Africa. The Sunwolves fell to their sixth straight defeat on Friday, when they lost 46-19 to the Stormers.
