Misaki Doi failed to earn her second title on the WTA tour on Sunday, when she lost the final of the Taiwan Open to former world No. 1 Venus Williams.
Williams, currently ranked 12th in the world and the top seed at Kaohsiung's Yang-Ming Center, defeated the 61st-ranked Doi 6-4, 6-2 despite double-faulting nine times.
The 24-year-old Doi won her only championship last year in October's Luxemburg Open.
