Kei Nishikori has pulled out of the Swiss Indoors Basel starting Monday due to a sore right shoulder, his management company said Friday.

Nishikori has decided to sit out Basel as a precaution and will prepare on taking part in the Paris Masters starting on Nov. 2.

The World No. 6 is aiming for the second year in a row to make the season-ending ATP World Tour Finals in London next month.

Nishikori is currently seventh on points in the ATP Race to London. He lost to South African Kevin Anderson in the third round of the Shanghai Masters last week.

The top eight players with the most countable points accumulated in Grand Slam, ATP World Tour and Davis Cup tournaments during the year qualify for the ATP World Tour Finals.
