Slovakia's Dominika Cibulkova scored a shock win over former world No. 1 Ana Ivanovic at the Pan Pacific Open on Friday, booking a semifinal spot with a straight-sets victory at the Ariake Tennis Forest Park.

The diminutive world No. 48 Cibulkova overpowered her more well-credentialed opponent, winning a tight first set tiebreaker before imposing her will on Croatia's former French Open champion in the final set to take the match 7-6 (7-5), 6-3.

"Today was my best match here in Tokyo," said Cibulkova on the court after the match. "I was just sticking to my game, being very active, not letting Anna into the court and being active on her serve.
