Japan manager Vahid Halilhodzic ran his car into a taxi on Monday morning but was unhurt, the Japan Football Association said.
Halilhodzic was driving in Tokyo's Chiyoda Ward when he collided with an empty cab, whose driver was also not injured. The damage to both cars was minimal.
JFA president Kuniya Daini said he did not know Halilhodzic drove his own car.
"We are terribly sorry about this," Daini said. "I did not even know he was behind the wheel. We, including the coach himself, must be sure it doesn't happen again."
