Japan boss Vahid Halilhodzic is leaving nothing to chance and wants to be completely prepared for the second-round World Cup qualifiers starting in June after learning of the former Asian champions' opponents on Tuesday.

Japan was given a kind draw in Kuala Lumpur and start out on the road to the 2018 finals in Russia in Group E against minnows Syria, Afghanistan, Singapore, and Cambodia.

Speaking in Tokyo on Wednesday, former Algeria coach Halilhodzic said, "We will be fastidious about every detail and make perfect preparations. We have to ensure there are no mishaps."
