Japan will open its Pacific Nations Cup campaign on July 18 against Canada in San Jose, California, the Japan Rugby Football Union and World Rugby said Friday.

The Brave Blossoms will play the United States on July 24 in Sacramento in the same U.S. state, and play their third test in Pool B against Fiji in Toronto. Final placing in the six-nation field, that also includes Samoa and Tonga, will be determined Aug. 3 in Burnaby, Canada.

World Rugby Chairman Bernard Lapasset said on World Rugby's website, "This year is of particular significance for the six countries involved, with the Pacific Nations Cup taking place some six weeks out from the commencement of RWC 2015."

"Top competition for teams is one of World Rugby's strategic aims and the Pacific Nations Cup gives teams beneficial game time to prepare for England 2015. The PNC also provides a platform for players to showcase their talents against quality and skilled opposition."
