Japan midfielder Keisuke Honda has slammed referee Abdulrahman Hussain and accused the Qatari of officiating Japan's opening 4-0 win over 10-man Palestine at the Asian Cup on Monday "like a basketball game."

The AC Milan attacker claims the level of refereeing at the Asian Cup is not up to scratch, even though Hussain handed Palestine five yellow cards, awarded Japan a penalty and sent off defender Ahmed Mahajna.

"I don't want to complain but they (the Asian Football Confederation) have to change something about the level of referees (at the Asian Cup)," said Honda.
