Shinji Kagawa will not travel to Singapore for Japan's friendly against Brazil after showing symptoms of a concussion, the Japan Football Association said following Friday's 1-0 victory over Jamaica.

Kagawa was taken to the hospital where he was to undergo detailed tests. The team was set to depart for Singapore on Saturday morning, but the Dortmund midfielder will wait for test results before deciding on his next course of action.

According to the JFA, Kagawa, playing for Japan for the first time since this summer's World Cup, was hit in the jaw during the first half of Javier Aguirre's first win as coach of the Asian champions.

Kagawa bled from his mouth but stayed in the game until the 90th minute, and even managed to speak in the post-match interview on the pitch.

"I wanted to score," he said. "We have a lot of adjustments to make. The game should not have ended 1-0."

But after returning to the dressing room Kagawa began feeling dizzy, the JFA said.

Having also suffered a concussion in August in his last game for Manchester United, the JFA decided to send Kagawa to the hospital and pull him from the Brazil game on Tuesday.

Kagawa, who has revived his club career by returning to Dortmund on the transfer deadline, had come close to scoring a few times in his first appearance for Aguirre.

Wasteful Japan was comfortably the better side, but only reached the scoreboard through an early Nyron Nosworthy own goal at the Big Swan.

"I'm as relaxed as I always am," Aguirre said, when asked about registering his first win.
