Nao Ikeyama extended her mark as the oldest Japanese world champion on Saturday, when she successfully defended her WBO atomweight crown for the first time.

Ikeyama, 45, defeated Masae Akitaya by unanimous decision in their 10-round bout at Azalea Taisho Hall in Osaka.

In the other title bout on the card, Kumiko Seeser Ikehara defeated Gretchen Abaniel of the Philippines by split decision to win the WBO minimumweight title and claim her first world championship.
