Japan, which will make its return to the Davis Cup World Group for the first time in two years, was drawn on Wednesday to play Canada in next season's first round.

Japan, which defeated Colombia over the weekend in the World Group playoffs with world No. 12 Kei Nishikori winning twice, will be at home. The tie will be played from Jan. 31 to Feb. 2 at a venue yet to be chosen.

Canada, which lost its World Group semifinal over the weekend to Serbia, includes world No. 11 Milos Raonic and No. 41 Vasek Pospisil.

The winner of the tie will face a quarterfinal match against either the Czech Republic or the Netherlands in April.
