Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters rookie Shohei Otani will be out for two to three weeks with a sprained right ankle, the Pacific League team announced Monday.

Otani underwent further tests at a Tokyo hospital where the ankle showed no structural damage. The pitcher-outfielder suffered the injury while playing defense in Saturday's game against the Orix Buffaloes, and had been examined in Kobe where he was diagnosed with the sprain.
