Japan coach Takeshi Okada said Monday that Catania striker Takayuki Morimoto, who has received his first international callup for the upcoming friendlies against the Netherlands and Ghana, is questionable as he is experiencing discomfort in his left thigh.

"I still don't know if Morimoto will be able to join the team," said Okada prior to Japan departing for the Netherlands to play the European powerhouse this Saturday and Ghana four days later.

Morimoto warmed the bench as Catania was beaten 2-1 away to Parma in the Italian Serie A on Sunday.

He was scheduled to join the team in the Netherlands on Monday or later but he returned to Catania as the team made a request that he undergo a medical check.
