Japan lost to Russia in four sets in the final round of the World Grand Prix women's volleyball tournament Thursday.

Japan dropped its second straight match after a 25-17, 25-23, 27-29, 25-14 loss at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium. Russia improved to 1-1.

Earlier in the day, the Netherlands outlasted Germany 19-25, 25-21, 25-22, 21-25, 15-13. The Netherlands improved to 2-0, while Germany fell to 1-1.

Brazil improved to 2-0 by beating winless China 25-21, 25-20, 31-29.
