Ai Fukuhara crashed out in the second round of the women's singles after a full-sets defeat to Yuka Ishigaki at the Ogimura Cup Japan Open on Saturday.

Fukuhara went down 17-15, 10-12, 11-7, 8-11, 11-9, 8-11, 11-9 at Wakayama Big Whale and also exited the women's doubles after the 20-year-old and partner Kasumi Ishikawa were beaten in the quarterfinals 4-11, 11-8, 10-12, 11-9, 10-12, 11-8, 12-10 by Ai Fujinuma and Mikie Taisei.

"I lost in both singles and doubles and felt mentally weak," said Fukuhara, who was playing in only her second tournament as Ishikawa's doubles partner.

"I think we will get better once we have more matches under our belts," said Fukuhara.

Elsewhere, Sayaka Hirano and Reiko Hiura won through to the women's doubles final with a 4-11, 11-9, 9-11, 9-11, 11-9, 11-7, 14-12 win over Romanian pair Daniela Doudean and Elizabeta Samara.

Jun Mizutani beat Russian Alexei Smirnov 4-11, 11-7, 11-6, 11-8, 10-12, 11-9 and was joined in the men's singles quarterfinals by compatriot Kaii Yoshida, who beat Kenta Matsudaira 11-8, 8-11, 9-11, 9-11, 11-8, 11-3, 11-8.
