Urawa Reds defender Marcus Tulio Tanaka will be sidelined for three to four weeks because of a hamstring injury and will miss Sunday's Club World Cup match, soccer officials said Saturday. Tanaka picked up the injury during Urawa's 1-0 defeat to AC Milan in their semifinal on Thursday, a result that sent the J. League side to the playoff for third place against Tunisia's Etoile Sahel. The Japan international is also expected to be absent from the training camp of the national team beginning Tuesday, the first to be called up by Takeshi Okada who took over from Ivica Osim.
