Brazilian striker Bare headed a last-minute winner to give promoted Ventforet Kofu a 1-0 home win over Yokohama F. Marinos in the J. League first division on Sunday.

Kofu got the deserved win after Bare met a free-kick from Biju to beat goalkeeper Tatsuya Enomoto and Japan defender Yuji Nakazawa on the goal-line, sending a packed home crowd of 14,615 into a frenzy at Kose Sports Park Stadium.

The only goal of the game came after the home side kept Marinos under pressure all afternoon, with Bare posing problems for the visitors' defense marshaled by Nakazawa.

Katsuya Ishihara fed Bare, but his header went inches wide of the post after 15 minutes, while Jun Uruno and Biju also came close to scoring when their headers skimmed the woodwork in the second half.

Marinos replied in the 88th minute against the run of play through Marcio Rodrigues, who met a cross from Daisuke Nasu but saw his header flow just wide of the post.

It appeared that the Marinos defense held out until Bare connected with the Biju free-kick at the far post in injury time, leaving Marinos in sixth place in the 18-team table on 13 points from nine games. Kofu moved up to 13th on 11 points.

In Sunday's other game, Glaucio and Alex struck in each half to give Avispa Fukuoka its first win of the season with a comfortable 2-0 home win over Albirex Niigata. Fukuoka is 15th on eight points and Niigata eighth on 13 points.
