Newly crowned all-around champion Hiroyuki Tomita had another disastrous day in apparatus finals on Sunday, finishing at the bottom of the eight-man field in the horizontal bar at the world gymnastics championships.

Tomita capped his error-filled performance by putting his hands on the mat when landing and received a disappointing 8.475 points, well below the 9.737 he scored to top the qualifying round.

Slovenia's Aljaz Pegan won the horizontal bar title with 9.662, followed in second by Yann Cucherat of France with 9.650 and Ukraine's Valeri Goncharov in third with 9.637.
