Seattle Mariners outfielder Ichiro Suzuki won the American League Gold Glove for the fifth consecutive season Tuesday.

"To me, a Gold Glove is an award I have to win. I'm glad I did this year, too," said Ichiro, who had 10 assists and committed only two errors for a fielding percentage of .995.

Gold Gloves are voted on by managers and coaches before the end of the regular season.

Before coming to Seattle, Ichiro won seven consecutive Gold Glove awards in Japan.
