Urawa Reds have signed Brazilian midfielder Robson Ponte from German Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen, the J. League first division side said Friday.
The contract for Ponte runs from Friday through Jan. 1 next year, Urawa said. The 28-year-old attacking midfielder spent the last six seasons in the German first division and scored two goals in 23 league matches in the 2004-05 season.
