KITCHENER, Ontario (Kyodo) Japan’s Mao Asada put in a solid performance to top the qualifiers after the women’s free skate on the opening day of the World Junior Figure Skating Championships in Canada on Monday.
Asada finished first in Group A and top overall with 112.32 points, ahead of compatriot Aki Sawada, who also advanced to the main draw after finishing second in the group with 93.38 points.
