Having spent more time than ever with his players since being appointed Japan coach, Zico is hoping to see not only a win but also improvement when his side meets Uruguay on Friday night at Tokyo's National Stadium.
"We've been able to fix some problems we had over the past four days and I hope our players will show that tomorrow," Zico said Thursday after his team's final two-hour training session. The friendly will be the third game for Japan under Zico's guidance, following a 1-1 draw against Jamaica in October and a 2-0 loss against Argentina in November.
"Uruguay is a tough opponent with a good tradition. It will be a good game," the Brazilian coach added.
