Eric McArthur played a key role in a third-quarter rally as the Aisin Sea Horses pulled away for a 90-73 victory over the Matsushita Electric Super Kangaroos on Monday in the men’s final of the national basketball championships.
U.S.-born McArthur, who has Japanese nationality, helped Aisin come back from a three-point deficit and build a 69-57 lead after the third quarter en route to its second overall national title.
With 20 points and 13 rebounds, McArthur was the only player who had a double-double in the game at Yoyogi national gymnasium annex.
Masaki Goto scored a team-high 21 points and Hideaki Toyama added 16 for Aisin. Matsushita is led by former Los Angeles Lakers head coach Paul Westhead.
