Defending champion Sayuri Osuga powered to a second straight national 500-meter title Sunday, finishing top after both races at the single-distance speed skating championships.
Osuga also booked a place in Japan's World Cup squad, increasing her first-day lead after finishing fastest in the second race in 39.01 seconds at Nagano's M-Wave Arena.
In the men's races, Tomonori Kawata took the 500 title in the absence of Hiroyasu Shimizu.
