Atsushi Fujimoto of the Hanshin Tigers organization belted a solo homer in the sixth inning Thursday to lift the Western League 4-2 over the Eastern League in the farm team All-Star Game.

Fujimoto homered off Yokohama BayStars' right-hander Yuji Hata at Minami Nagano Stadium and pocketed 1 million yen as the game's most valuable player.

Ryutaro Tsuji of the Orix BlueWave organization got the Western League All-Stars rolling with an RBI single in the first inning and the Chunichi Dragons' Shingo Maeda made it 2-0 with a solo homer in the second. Tsuji also had an RBI single in the eighth to cap the Western League scoring.

Toshikazu Yokomatsu of the Hiroshima Carp picked up the win despite giving up a solo homer to Tomoyuki Oda of the Nippon Ham Fighters that knotted the game 2-2 in the fifth inning.

Hata was assigned the loss while former Olympic star Toshiya Sugiuchi of the Fukuoka Daiei Hawks struck out two in the ninth inning for the save.

The Western League leads in the minor league All-Star series 24-12 with five ties.
