SEOUL -- Lee Sang Hoon, "Samson" to his Japanese fans, is one of the most talented pitchers to ever come out of South Korea, but also one of the most misunderstood.

There isn't much love in the love-hate relationship he has with the press. He is often hounded by overzealous reporters looking to dig up dirt on the man they love to hate. But he took time to sit down with Japan Times contributor Thomas St. John for a rare one-on-one interview about the past, present, and future of his career to date.

After a couple of years in Japan, Lee finally achieved his dream of signing with the Boston Red Sox, two years after signing for the club in a deal that was voided by the MLB players union because he was not an unrestricted free agent.
