Regarding Ivan Brackin's Feb. 3 letter, " North Vietnam was a huge threat": What nonsense! The U.S. intervention in Vietnam's civil war was not only a crime against humanity, it was tragically counterproductive. It only succeeded in forcing the nationalists to fight harder and longer. The end result is a "communist" Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos — an ideological victory for China's communists. That is hardly putting the "stoppers" on communist expansion.
