UBUD, Indonesia -- Alan Greenspan denounced the recent round of tax-cut proposals by the Bush administration. As governor of the world's most important central bank, his words carry a considerable amount of gravitas.

However, consider the possibility that these words were not uttered by the real Greenspan. Given the radical shift in his economic utterances and actions after his famous "irrational exuberance" remarks, there is good reason to believe that he might have been the victim of an alien abduction. If so, it might then be surmised that a reprogrammed clone was put in his place.

Before his famous speech on his perceptions of a growing bubble in American share markets, Greenspan oversaw a trim ship at the Fed where monetary policy followed the market. Then in 1997, it all changed. Under guidance of the evil clone, the Fed began trying to lead the market.
