Toyota Motor Corp was investigating a blaze Friday at its headquarters in Toyota, Aichi Prefecture, that is believed to have broken out in the technology development division, a company spokeswoman said.
All 1,300 employees in the division's building were evacuated and no one was injured, she said.
The automaker said the fire on the eighth floor of the building, the top floor, was extinguished at 7:10 p.m. and did not affect production.
NHK showed images of people evacuating, though there appeared to be little sign of smoke.
