Electronics and electrical equipment manufacturer Brother Industries Ltd. is bringing its popular home karaoke system to Thailand for the first time during this merry-making season following its launch in six countries in the Asia-Pacific region and the United States.

Its local sales unit, Brother Commercial (Thailand) Ltd., has started selling the personal entertainment gear under the brand name BMB to capitalize on the popularity of karaoke among Thais, particularly teenagers. It aims to sell 1,000 units in its first year in the Southeast Asian country.

A karaoke system package includes an amplifier, microphone and speaker, with a basic set priced at 34,900 baht (about ¥112,000) and an advanced model at 44,900 baht. The BMB karaoke system is being promoted in Thailand in collaboration with Brother's group arm, BMB International Corp. (Japan).

BMB International President Hiroshi Nishikawa said at a recent product launching event in Bangkok that the Nagoya-based company expects home karaoke sales in Thailand to account for 15 to 20 percent of its total overseas sales in 2020.
