Apple Inc. said Tuesday it sourced parts worth more than ¥3 trillion ($29.2 billion) from a total of 865 Japanese companies in 2015.
The maker of iPhones and iPads disclosed its trade volume with Japanese partners for the first time, highlighting the importance of its relations with suppliers including electronics manufacturer Kyocera Corp., Teikoku Printing Inks Mfg. Co. and Kantatsu Co., a maker of micro lens units for mobile phone cameras.
Besides the parts trade, Japanese developers of iPhone apps earned a total of $9.6 billion last year, nearly 20 percent of global App Store sales, Apple said.
The U.S. tech giant also estimated that its business has created or supported around 710,000 jobs in Japan.
