Prosecutors are expected to ask a court to discontinue a trial involving a senior member of a crime syndicate after two men were arrested for allegedly intimidating lay judges.
If the request is accepted, it will be the first time since the system was introduced in 2009 that a lay-judge trial has been abandoned midway. The trial is currently suspended.
The defendant is on trial for attempted murder after allegedly trying to kill a male acquaintance with a sword.
