Visiting Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull told Indonesian President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo on Thursday that his government will back Indonesia's intention to join the U.S.-led Trans Pacific Partnership trade pact.

"We would welcome Indonesia becoming a part of the TPP," Turnbull told Jokowi when the two leaders visited a market in Central Jakarta.

"And if Indonesia chooses to apply to join the Trans Pacific Partnership, we would support that application, absolutely," he added.
