Police say there is a connection between a Japanese man killed in Manila last year and one killed last week, sources said.

Tatsuya Nakamura, 42, whose body was found Sept. 1, was designated as the beneficiary of ¥200 million in insurance money from the other man, 32-year-old Shinsuke Toba, who was fatally shot by a motorcyclist last October, the sources said Wednesday.

The insurance money was never paid.

Nakamura's body was found by a security guard on a street in the Philippine capital, they said. He had suffered three gunshot wounds.

Nakamura and Toba were acquainted and both were from Yamanashi Prefecture, they said.

The sources said the two visited Manila together but Nakamura returned to Japan shortly after Toba was killed.
