In collaboration with Ninben Co., Kachikaihatsu Co. is selling original packages of “katsuobushi odashi” (fermented and smoked skipjack tuna) for drinking at its Best Western hotels in Japan from August.
The drink releases strong aromatic flavors of katsuobushi when brewed for three to four minutes, and is recommended for teatime.
Under this collaboration, the companies have created an original triangular box which contains six packets each. Each box is sold for ¥540, including consumption tax.
The product can be purchased at all nine Best Western hotels located in Sapporo, Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya, Osaka, Fukuoka, Oita and Naha.
Customers booking their hotel reservations through Best Western’s website between Aug. 1 and Dec. 31 will also be presented with one packet of the katsuobushi drink per guest when checking in.
Fauchon will launch its first “Fauchon Eclair Week Cafe” in Tokyo for a limited time in September in conjunction with its popular “Eclair Week” celebration in Paris, which has been held every September since 2007.
The cafe will be located in Harajuku and will open at 11:30 a.m. until 11 p.m. on weekdays and 9 p.m. on Sundays and public holidays from Sept. 12 to 18.
Customers will get a chance to try some of Fauchon’s well-known original flavors, including “La Vague,” (“The Wave”) an éclair made with light vanilla cream and “echire” semi-salted butter, beautifully decorated in the manner of famed woodblock artist Katsushika Hokusai’s “Great Wave off Kanagawa,” as well as the popular “Eclair Au Chocolat” and Fauchon’s original “Eclair L’orange,” which was first sold in 2003 and has been redesigned for the event.
In addition to these three flavors, which will be available during Eclair Week 2014 in Paris, customers can also enjoy two unique flavors that will only be sold in Japan: “Raspberry Champagne,” with raspberry champagne cream, red fondant and silver sprinkles; and “Fashion” decorated in Fauchon’s iconic colors with cassis and blueberry cream filling.
