Bank of France Gov. Christian Noyer expressed optimism Monday about the future course of the euro system during a meeting with Finance Minister Taro Aso in Tokyo, according to a government official.

Noyer explained to Aso that talks on the integration of the economy and the banking system in the eurozone are running smoothly, the Finance Ministry official said.

Aso welcomed the developments in the single-currency zone, the official said. The region's economy has still struggled in the aftermath of the sovereign debt crisis.

Noyer, who is visiting Japan to participate in the Paris Europlace International Financial Forum in Tokyo, did not touch on the current economic and price situation in Europe during the meeting with Aso, the official added.
