MITO (Kyodo) A woman in a wheelchair and her 76-year-old husband were killed in an alleged hit-and-run incident Sunday in Takahagi, Ibaraki Prefecture, police said.
The police said they are questioning a man in his 50s who turned himself in as the driver of the car involved in the 9:10 a.m. incident that killed Setsuko Kaminaga, 73, and her husband, Sanji, who was helping her cross a road.
The driver temporarily attended to Sanji Kaminaga but disappeared when an ambulance arrived about five minutes later, a witness said.
