An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.2 jolted Tokyo and its vicinity Saturday morning, the Meteorological Agency said.

There were no immediate reports of injuries from the 10:56 a.m. quake. No tsunami warning was issued.

The quake registered 4 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale of 7 in the coastal cities of Katsuura and Kamogawa in Chiba Prefecture, and 3 in several parts of central Tokyo as well as Chiba, Kanagawa and Shizuoka prefectures, the agency said.

The quake originated in waters off Chiba Prefecture, according to the agency.
