Laox Co., the Tokyo-based unit of a major Chinese retailer, will open a store inside Matsuzakaya's Ginza department store next month, becoming the first mass electronics retailer to start operations in the posh shopping district, the department store operator said Friday.
The outlet of Laox, which became a subsidiary of China's Suning Appliance Co. last year, will open Nov. 20 on the store's sixth floor. It will aim to attract foreign customers, including the surging number of Chinese shoppers in the area, Daimaru Matsuzakaya Department Stores Co. said.
