The government ordered Japan Post Service Co. on Tuesday to take all possible measures to prevent a recurrence of recent delays in its Yu-Pack parcel delivery operations.

Internal Affairs and Communications Minister Kazuhiro Haraguchi handed the business improvement order to Japan Post Service President Shinichi Nabekura at the ministry, urging the company to "sincerely recognize the gravity of the problem."

The mail delivery service arm of Japan Post Holdings Co. plans to take such measures as realigning staff, and the ministry hopes to receive reports on implementation of its efforts on Nov. 19 and at the end of January and March.
