Nissan Motor Co. President Carlos Ghosn said Wednesday his compensation package was worth about ¥890 million for the financial year that ended in March.

Ghosn revealed details of his and the company's other top executives' compensation before the start of a question and answer session with shareholders, saying he was doing so in response to great interest from many shareholders about the issue.

Ghosn's package is now the highest among executive compensation so far revealed by Japanese companies, surpassing that of Sony Chief Executive Officer Howard Stringer's compensation package, which is worth about ¥816.5 million.
