Hatsumi Shibata, who released numerous hit songs including "My Luxury Night," died of a heart attack Saturday at her home in Ito, Shizuoka Prefecture, her office said Monday. She was 57.

Born in Tokyo, Shibata, whose real name was Hatsumi Hosoai, started singing at an officers' club at a U.S. base at the age of 9.

After releasing her first record in 1974 with the song "Ai-kagi" ("Duplicate Key"), she performed on the "Kohaku Uta Gassen" annual New Year's Eve TV music extravaganza after the release of "My Luxury Night."

She sang many television commercial songs and performed overseas.
