NTT DoCoMo Inc. said Friday it will acquire Germany's net mobile AG, a mobile phone portal site, to boost its content-related business in Europe.

The nation's top mobile phone service provider will make a tender offer for net mobile's shares by the end of the month, and aim to buy more than 75 percent of its outstanding shares within four weeks. The purchase is expected to cost about ¥4.9 billion.

The German company runs a portal site for mobile phones and offers content distribution and other services in Europe.

NTT DoCoMo said it has obtained support from net mobile's management for the bid.
