Mito Prison sent a 24 year-old detainee to prosecutors Friday after he broke a window at the detention facility while being interrogated.

Naoto Tsuge tried to escape from his cell when the prison guards brought him breakfast on Aug. 1, authorities at the Ibaraki Prefecture prison said. Tsuge threatened the guards, ran from his cell and used a fire extinguisher on them. He also broke a window before being recaptured him in the hallway.

Tsuge was initially arrested and indicted in April for allegedly trying to escape from an interrogation. At the time, he was being questioned by Mito police about a failed theft attempt in the city. During questioning, Tsuge allegedly put sleeping pills into tea the police officer was drinking and tried to escape when the investigator fell asleep.
