Fujitsu Ltd. said Thursday it will slash the number of new graduates it will hire in spring 2010 by nearly 25 percent from a year earlier, as the electronics maker struggles to stem losses sparked by the global economic downturn.

Fujitsu plans to recruit 440 graduates with a bachelor's or master's degree, compared with the 585 it has hired this year. It will be the first time since spring 2005 that the number of recruits hired falls below 500, the company said.
