Japanese and Chinese artists living in Japan and a Chinese pianist and composer who hails from heavily damaged Sichuan Province will give a charity concert Monday in Tokyo for survivors of the massive May 12 earthquake.

The concert, titled "A Letter of Sound — From Heart to Heart," at Meguro Persimmon Hall in Meguro Ward will feature joint performances by Rieko Suzuki, a renowned violinist and one of the event's organizers, and Gao Ping, a distinguished pianist and composer from the Sichuan capital of Chengdu.

"I wanted to do something for the Sichuan people together with my fellow musicians and artists, as the place and people there are special to me," said Suzuki, 44.
