Like most teenagers, Asuka Toyoshima spends hours trawling the Internet. But unlike most of his peers, he isn't downloading games or videos. He is searching for information about his Japanese father, whom he last saw when he was 3 years old.

Last month, the 18-year-old Japanese-Filipino teenager posted an appeal on Yahoo Answers that says he is looking for his Japanese father.

His message states his mother's name, his father's name, as well as his address in Aichi Prefecture, telephone number and the name of the company where he worked 15 years ago.
