Japanese professional photographer Yuichi Takasaka has been highly commended in the Shell Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition for his winning shot capturing Rufous hummingbirds sipping at sugar-water feeders.

Taken in the back garden of his home in Canada, Takasaka's "Hovering Hummers" photograph — exhibited in the "Urban and Garden Wildlife" category — will join around 100 other successful images in an exhibition opening to the public Friday at London's Natural History Museum.

"I set up some sugar-water feeders in my garden in the spring, hoping a hummingbird would come and visit. In the end I was refilling the feeders up to five times a day because so many came. I think the picture looks harmonious," Takasaka said of his efforts to capture the perfect image.
